Using VIM color schemes with putty
My eyes are always grateful if I can spare them terrible color schemes. The other day I stumbled on what seemed to be a really nice color scheme called wombat, so I decided to allot five minutes of my time to quickly change the color scheme...or so I thought ;-)
Turns out that when using putty, not all colors are available, and most good looking vim color schemes will not work. After googling, I found that someone has converted the theme for 88 and 256 color xterms. So I downloaded that one too. Surely, now it would work, right?
Well, almost, after some more googling, I finally found the solution. In your vimrc file, simply add the following line
and presto, now you can use the wombat256 theme ;-)
